Organic Composting System:
We place a compost container with an airtight lid in every studio.
We offer door-to-door compost pickup service or guests can dump their organic compost in our compost pile or pit.
Inorganic Compost System:
We are working to provide an airtight compost container in every studio for foods that do not properly decompose in soil.
We will offer door-to-door compost pickup service or guests can dump their inorganic compost in our soon to come small-scale chicken coop.
Why?
To reduce food waste from going to the dump!!
Food waste that goes to the dump attracts not only flies and vermin, but free-range cows!
Plastic ingested by cows not only causes harm but can result in death!
Recycling System:
We provide plastic crates under every kitchen sink for all recyclables.
We ask guests to leave their recyclables outside their doors or downstairs in the bigger receptacles so we can dispose of the recyclables by means of No Mas Basura, every Thursday, at the Farmer's Market from 8am-10am.
We will soon provide separate receptacles for plastics, metals, and glass.
Why?
Recycling, reusing, and reducing are key in realizing a circular economy which is necessary for a more sustainable world.
These materials have life left to give! If we allow them to end up in the landfill they not only lose value but they decrease the value of the land and ecosystem they end up residing on as well.
Disclaimer: Not all products purchased for the rooms are from sustainable sources but we are working towards making better purchasing decisions to meet both our guests comfort needs as well as our sustainability goals.
